Work Philosophy

In relation to nutrition: I truly, deeply believe that good nutrition can help prevent, halt the onset, and even treat the majority of the most prevalent chronic diseases in our society today. Nutrition education and community outreach to children are the most effective long term changes that should be implemented at the policy level.

In relation to work environment: I believe the best work environment is composed of a diverse population who are encouraged to partake in constructive task conflict but not destructive personal conflict. I love a good academic debate or a friendly disagreement because this kind of interaction leads to creative, integrative solutions.

In relation to work ethic: I love to do good work. I am happiest when I can make a meaningful impact on my community through mediums I am passionate about. A love for food and good nutrition paired with compassion has easily manifested itself into a devotion to community engagement. I have found that I perform best when I am working on behalf of other people.

Career Goals

In the future I would like to...

Participate in the writing and implementation of nutrition policy at the state or federal level.

Hire and manage a team of health care professionals in either the private or public sector.

Combine a curiosity for culture and a passion for writing and create a book of short stories about food around the world.
